As a fifth-generation attorney, I grew up understanding that the law is more than a profession—it is a responsibility. I was especially influenced by my father, a beloved civil rights attorney in my home state of Mississippi and a tireless advocate for the “little guy.” Working alongside him later in my career reinforced what I had already learned: every client deserves to be heard, respected, and given a fighting chance.
Before becoming an attorney, I served our country as a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps and worked as a private investigator in New Orleans. I then returned home and worked my way through the ranks of my local police department, beginning as a patrol officer, becoming a certified DUI officer, and ultimately serving as a Captain and police academy instructor. Those experiences gave me a perspective on the justice system that few attorneys possess—I have seen it from the street, from the investigative side, and from inside the courtroom.
Over the course of my career, I have handled civil and criminal litigation ranging from administrative hearings to felony jury trials. Recently, my practice has focused on defending individuals in civil and criminal matters throughout Nashville and the surrounding areas, including cases in both General Sessions and Circuit Court.
I take a client-focused approach to every case. I make myself available to answer questions, explain what is happening, and guide my clients through what can be an incredibly stressful and uncertain time. I draw on my experience as a Marine, investigator, police officer, and attorney to prepare every case for a fight. At the same time, I understand that the best result is not always the biggest fight. Sometimes it means taking a case to trial; sometimes it means negotiating a resolution that allows a client to move forward with their life.
